The Lion, written by and starring Benjamin Scheuer, will launch a national tour following its off-Broadway limited engagement. The tour will kick off on August 22 at Lowell, Massachusetts’ Merrimack Repertory Theatre. The off-Broadway production will end on March 29 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater.
After Lowell, the Sean Daniels-helmed production will play Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Rochester’s Geva Theatre Center, Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh’s City Theatre Company.
The Lion is a true story of love, loss, family loyalty and the redemptive power of music. Prior to the Lynn Redgrave Theater, the show has been performed in various incarnations at Lincoln Center, the St. James Theatre in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
